Tesla Motors

Vehicle Engineering Intern

I spent the Fall of my Junior year and the Summer before my Senior year interning at Tesla as part of the exterior engineering team in Fremont, California.  Over the eight months that I spent at Tesla I got the unique opportunity to work together with designers and engineers to develop, model, prototype, test, and source components for the Model S and Model X.  I learned to model components using CATIA, how to design injection molded plastic parts, perform geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, how to design components for manufacturing and assembly, and how to source machined, cast, and injection molded parts.

Unfortunately, all of my work for Tesla Motors is covered under a strict non disclosure agreement that prevents me from providing examples of my work, but one of the parts that I worked on, a front diffuser for the Model X, was pictured in a recent edition of Popular Mechanics.
