Formula SAE
During my sophomore year at Carnegie Mellon University I was the system leader for the body panels of the Formula SAE racecar. I designed and created a surface model of the panels in Solidworks and was responsible for making them. I was able to secure sponsorship from General Plastics to machine the necessary molds and from PPG to paint the panels. I learned a lot about composites, including a process called resin infusion that allowed me to create high quality light weight panels using carbon fiber.
The team participated in the international Formula SAE competition in Ann Arbor Michigan that year completing all events and placing among the top teams form around the world.
